It’s time for China’s favorite game show, the Price is Right, the Chinese Edition!
We have six brand-name items you can find on the shelf at my neighborhood Beijing market. Can you guess how much they cost when their prices are converted into American dollars?
Remember, it’s a game of getting closest to the price, without going over.
First up, Nongfu Spring Water. Since 1996, Nongfu Spring has been one of the Chinese beverage industry’s ten strongest business enterprises. Nongfu Spring Water, “have a little sweet.”
Juicy Fruit gum. Only Juicy Fruit brings you that one-of-a-kind flavor that satisfies your cravings for something sweet. Juicy Fruit, by Wrigley.
Budweiser beer. They’ve devoted over a century to perfecting their beer, following the same family recipe for five generations of Busch family brew masters. Budweiser, the king of beers.
Lay’s potato chips. America’s favorite snack food. Now, the country’s most popular potato chip is crispier and even more irrestistable than before. Lay’s, by Frito-Lay.
Kellogg’s Corn Flakes. The ready-to-eat breakfast cereal made from corn. Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, the original and the best.
Jacob’s Creek. Australia’s most popular wine. It takes a precision instrument to make our wines. Jacob’s Creek, welcome to our place.
And these products’ prices in U.S. dollars are:
Nongfu Spring Water: $0.19 per bottle
Juicy Fruit gum: $0.22 per pack
Budweiser beer: $0.96 per can
Lay’s potato chips: $1.45 per canister
Kellogg’s Corn Flakes: $6.47 per box
Jacob’s Creek wine: $14.94 per bottle
I’ll bet you went over on most of those prices.
