Taking Turns

August 14, 2008

Today was my turn.

Kate Amara, Deirdre Fitzpatrick, and I take turns being the live reporter for our “Hearst-Argyle Olympic Team”. Meaning we shoot a few dozens live shots a night for five hours straight.

Here’s the proof.

Those are the mic flags for all of our stations. It’s usually unbelievably hot on the roof of the Beijing Convention Center. But today, it poured all the day, and the evening was actually cool!

So the five hours really felt like only four!

Stormy Weather

August 14, 2008

Jaime Brassard/Berlin, VT

It’s been very hot since we’ve been here in Beijing, and when it’s not hot it looks a lot like this…

This was this morning after a swimming event.  It didn’t look like rain when we left the office…or maybe it did and we couldn’t see it through the haze (storm clouds and Beijing haze look surprisingly similar).  But we were’t the only ones caught off gaurd.

This is a crew from a Chinese Sports website, I lent them a battery on our third day here, unfortunately for them I didn’t have an exrta rain jacket.  Not that it mattered much, we were all soaked through in about ten minutes.  At least it cooled off a bit.
